French rail-air poster, 1949

Those who have the books Wellington Transport Memories and The Aircraft of Air New Zealand and Affiliates since 1940 know about NZR's post-WW2 RailAir, subsequently Strait Air Freight Express (SAFE); this 1949 poster shows the equivalent in France which seemed to offer general 'retail' service.  Fer is French for iron, although air - fer seems a play on air fare (which in French is tarif aérien).

The aircraft is clearly a Bristol 170 Freighter, as used in NZ, but the depiction of four engines is artistic licence as this aircraft only ever had two engines!
