the early 3rd rail electric locomotives of the Etat system, France

A total of 30 of these Z 6000 class standard gauge locomotives were built between 1924 and 1937. They were intended orginally to be dual voltage 750 V and 1,500 V, but the latter operation was not put into effect until 1937 on the line Paris - Le Mans. Nine of them (later renumbered in the SNCF as 814-822 - the whole class was known as BB 800) were solely for 3rd rail electric current at 750 V and the rest dual voltage with 1,500 V from overhead. They were withdrawn by 1972.
