Dutch trucks, 1950s

An oil painting commissioned of Wallace Trickett by the owner of Levin Eels Ltd for a montage of trucks used by his father's business in Holland. John Kuuten operated a successful business in live eels and had a variety of trucks to deliver his produce from the factory at Sparndam. On the montage are four of his fleet as requested by his son: one Austin truck with three Mercedes. The painting was taken to Holland and presented to his family.

One humorous point to this commission, as Wallace was asked to paint a few backgrounds suitable to their location, he thought of the things we associate Holland with and keyed on the computer an image search for "Dutch dykes" ...had he painted what came up on the screen, truckers would probably have been impressed!
