Penguin Books delivery van, England, 1937

Penguin Books is most noted for having pioneered the paperback when Allen Lane established the company in 1935; by being significantly cheaper than the normal hardback, it helped to bring literature to the masses.

This van was obviously used to make express deliveries and no doubt was a good bit of PR.  We've always used couriers within NZ; on the occasions when we've done our own, cars and station wagons have sufficed!
