Lowestoft tram and lighthouse, England, 1900s

The Lowestoft tram system measured 4.08 miles (6.57 km) in cape gauge and lasted from 1903 to 1931. There were 15 open top double deck tramcars, 4 single deck tramcars (one in the picture) and a works car. The tramshed in Rotterdam Road still exists and the East Anglia Transport Museum owns an original 1904 open top double deck car.

The lighthouse was built in 1874 and stands 16 metres tall, 37 metres above sea level. The light, which has a range of 23 nautical miles (43 km), was automated in 1975.
