Another pic appropriate for 4 July. As mentioned in an earlier post, Route 66 officially doesn't exist anymore, but you still hear a lot of people say they want to drive along it.
It is true that there is no road designated "US66" anymore, but there are many examples of the original pavement in rural Oklahoma and elsewhere. Further, other segments have been re-designated with a local number (e.g. State Highway (SH) 66 in Oklahoma - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_State_Highway_66). It is certainly possible to drive hundreds of miles along the route of "Route 66" (with gaps) and many websites provide guidance (e.g. http://www.historic66.com/).
